When the Magic Kingdom opened in the fall of 1971, it was love at first sight for me. From the wise-cracking toucans high atop the Enchanted Tiki Room, to the hitchhiking ghosts at the Haunted Mansion, to the side-splitting skippers manning the hem on the Jungle Cruise, I could not get enough. Each new attraction that opened brought renewed joy as I spent my teen years in the company of Mickey, Cinderella, and the enchanting dolls of It’s a Small World.
In 1982, EPCOT’s opening introduced two epic attractions in one. From the charming pavilions and world class-cuisine of World Showcase to the audio-animatronic, dancing veggies and gravity-defying fountains in Future World, I was smitten—again. As Disney grew, my family grew, and soon I had a new generation of enthusiasts who shared my love of all things Disney.
Currently, I live in Georgia with my husband and college-aged children. Through the years, we have become skilled in navigating the Disney parks with a wheelchair for my son with mobility challenges and how to manage his sensory overloads—even with fireworks. When it comes to ensuring that every family member has a safe and enchanting experience—regardless of allergies or special needs—no one does it better than Disney!
